With a passion for leadership, Cynthia Tidwell has built start-up organizations, managed turnarounds, and hired and retained top talent by using a results-oriented team philosophy. Prior to being appointed president of Royal Neighbors of America in 2005, she led a $900-million national property and casualty insurance business.

As president, she has led initiatives to regain business fundamentals and achieved record results. Today, Ms. Tidwell leads the turnaround at Royal Neighbors through a formal change framework of recognition, stabilization and revitalization. She is rebuilding the sales force, increasing membership, and enhancing the philanthropic arm of the organization. In recognition of her keen business acumen and leadership abilities, she won the prestigious Stevie Award as "Turnaround Executive of the Year" in the 2009 American Business Awards.

Ms. Tidwell also serves on the executive committee of the Royal Neighbors Board of Directors, the Board of Junior Achievement, the Illinois Quad City Chamber of Commerce, and the Western Illinois Leadership Committee. She is a graduate of Arizona State University and a participant in the Wharton AICPU program and Hagberg Executive Development. She is also an active member of the National Fraternal Congress, Executive Women's Golf League, and the National Association of Professional Women. In addition, she has worked with United Way and volunteers extensively on behalf of Royal Neighbors.

Ms. Tidwell is a sought-after speaker on leadership and the improvement of women's health and financial security. She was featured in
American Executive magazine, listed in the Global Directory of Who's Who, and has been a guest on numerous television talk shows and news channels. She is accomplished in all facets of insurance, including sales, marketing, claims, underwriting, change management, agency management, information technology, and human resources.

The Impact of New Federal Reserve Regulations

Jeanne Hogarth is the manager for the Consumer Education and Research Section of the Division of Consumer and Community Affairs at the Federal Reserve Board.

Prior to joining the Board in 1995, her previous experience includes 7 years of high school teaching in Ohio, a year on the Extension faculty at the University of Illinois, and 13 years on the consumer economics faculty at Cornell University. During her tenure at Cornell, she was responsible for community education programs related to family financial management and consumer economics through Cornell Cooperative Extension.

At the Federal Reserve Board, she is responsible for research and outreach initiatives related to consumer financial services. Her recent projects include initiatives on consumers’ use of banking services, consumer protection strategies, the effictiveness of financial education efforts, and consumer testing for comprehension and usability of disclosure notices. Jeanne is responsible for the Board’s consumer information materials on financial services, both on the web and in print. She is the author of numerous scholarly research articles as well as consumer education resources on financial management. Both her research and her consumer education programs have received awards for their excellence.

Jeanne received a BS in education from Bowling Green State University and an MS and PhD in family and consumer economics from The Ohio State University.

Mary Weinand is a Family Resource Management Specialist with Iowa State University Extension and serves 13 counties in southeast Iowa. In her position, Mary works with credit, budgeting, and financial and retirement planning issues for Iowa families.

Mary joined ISU Extension in 1998 as a Parent Educator and has worked on a variety of grants and contracts before accepting her current position in 2005. She holds a bachelors degree from St. Mary's College of Notre Dame and an MBA from DePaul University.

Craig Goettsch is Director of Investor Education and Consumer Outreach/Securities Counsel for the Iowa Insurance Division. He began his work for the Securities Division in 1975 as a securities examiner.

A native of Davenport, Goettsch received his law degree, with distinction, from the University of Iowa Law School and is a member of the Polk County and Iowa Bar Associations. Goettsch has served as President of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), has served on several committees, served on the Board of Directors, and currently chairs NASAA's Uniform Securities Act Project Group and Corporate governance Project Group.

He has served on several task forces of state securities regulators to negotiate multi-state settlements, as an adjunct professor teaching securities law at both Drake and Iowa law schools, and as secretary for the Iowa JumpStart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. Goettsch is a founder and trustee of the Investor Protection Trust, a public charity dedicated to investor education.

As a tax director, Nancy has extensive experience with tax planning and compliance for corporations and high net worth individuals. She has worked with SEC clients as well as retailers, manufacturers, auto dealers, and service organizations. She is an expert on multi-state income taxation, estate and gift tax planning, fiduciary taxation and charitable trusts.

Nancy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public accountants and Quad City Estate Planning Council. Her community involvement extends to not-for-profit councils, financial committees and volunteer work for numerous organizations. Nancy received her bachelors degree in accounting from St. Ambrose University in Davenport and is a licensed CPA in Iowa and Illinois.
